We all keep on bragging about the significance of a logo, how perfect it should look, how it should attract the clients, blah, blah, blah… but very seldom anyone tells how to find the right designer who can design the perfect logo for our business. What I exactly mean to say is that “anyone can design a logo, but not everyone can design the right logo.” With the increasing advancement in the internet world, maybe I might sound a little stupid making an issue out of this problem but trust me; dozens of logo designing offers on net just drive you crazier. Don’t forget, too much of information can be just as difficult to handle as too little.
Below I list 8 points which can help you find the right logo designer who would be capable enough to boost up your corporate identity.

• Impressive Portfolio and Project List:Sometimes we just don’t value the importance of a designer’s portfolio while hiring him/her for our project, which is wrong. An impressive portfolio is the best way to present a designer’s skills and creativity. Previous logo designs and successful project list can easily get potential clients to a designer’s doorstep.
• Easy Availability:With the growing online trend in logo design industry, very rarely we see clients meeting face-to-face with their designers. Therefore, before selecting an individual for your logo project, check the readily available contact information, e.g. an address, telephone number, or FAX. If a phone number is listed, do they answer it? I don’t think anyone would like to get into trouble by hiring a designer who is not easily available.
• Previous Client List and their Comments:None can be a better person to inquire about a designer, than his own previous clients. When hiring a particular individual, do look for client testimonials and comments on his website. Although, sometimes designers place fake references to sound worthy but its easy to spot (with no mentioning of company name or a website)

• Flexibility:While discussing details of your project with the logo designer, try to figure out how accommodating the designer sounds. It’s not important that circumstances and requirements remain the same as they were settled earlier. Sometimes you tend to look for some changes in project details and for such times a cooperative designer is a blessing.

• Efficient Time Management:Deciding on a deadline for your designs is the most vital part of this design process. Once you have found the right logo designer, discuss the expected timeframe with him and agree on a clear deadline. I am not asking you to push hard on a designer to get things done quickly. Give him his space for research but do ask about the exact timeframe which he thinks would be enough for him.

• An Updated Website:A welcoming and modified website notifies about the potential of a designer but if his own online presence is not satisfying, it means the individual is not capable enough to handle anyone’s work.

• A Detailed Questionnaire:You might find it crazy but I strongly think that the more we answer and give details to our designer, the better results he can come up with. A sensible and elaborate questionnaire tells how much detail the designer will be adding to your project. |

• Trustworthy References:As I mentioned earlier, how important is to inquire about a designer from his last clients because their recommendations can help you with your final decision. Here I would like to remind you that if a designer’s website does not list previous clients information, don’t hesitate to ask for contact details…it’s your right, just go for it! In closing let me say that the information above was my effort to save my friends from the confusion and pain of finding a good logo designer but still I think more tips could be added. Found you though Stumble and it’s a good reading, especially about the check list. Don’t think that most designers have it (they are usually too artsy for that) but you can find a good one online and make the designer follow it.
One more tip, try to make a logo competition(available on some forums) and work with the winner
