| Design Agency or Freelancers – Who design better logos? |
With the vast online advancements in every industry, we find the trend of freelancing boosting up rapidly. Over past few years, as a designer I have worked with both large/small design agencies and freelancers. I have observed both have their own advantages and disadvantages but we need to find out which can be more beneficial for us.
Therefore, I thought to list benefits of both the choices and ask you all … whom do you think we should hire to get a logo designed for our business –A Design Agency or A Freelance Designer?
Let’s first see why it is better to hire a Design Agency
-
A freelancer’s work is never checked or supervised while a design agency makes sure that the work is up to the mark
-
Design agencies handle big corporate projects efficiently with detailed documentation.
-
A Design Agency is “One Shop Stop” where they have a professional hired staff comprising of web programmer, interface designer, copywriter, SEO expert and social marketer. It makes convenient for you to promote your online business from one place.
-
History of Excellency showcasing list of prestigious, trustworthy clients assures you about the quality of work you can expect.
-
A variety of ideas and concepts will be presented to you without giving a monotonous feel.
-
Your project is not at the stake of a single person. A large group of people see to it that your work is submitted on the promised day.

Now, let’s see how Freelancers can be a better choice.
-
There is least possibility of confusions as you are in dealing with a single person only.
-
Low cost is believed to be the biggest advantage of getting logos designed by freelancers. They don’t charge you with extra overheads like big design agencies.
-
More flexibility is offered when you approach a freelancer as he does not bound you with the number of samples he will present. He will keep on coming with more designs until the client is satisfied.
-
There is no corporate maze and you can convey your requirements in a much simpler way then you do for a design agency.
Well, I tried to highlight both sides of story without deciding which a better option is. I leave it up to you to give come up with your vote of favor with a reason.
If you ask honestly, even I don’t have a clear vision which option can be better. Maybe your comments will help me…so what are you guys waiting for, let’s get started!!

Hi..
Indeed a very good article, this is never ending topic in web designing as to who is to be chosen for designing a logo or a site.
But i would suggest going with design agency rather than a freelancer, as design agency would have many people who would be working under one project and because of which it would yield better results, where as a freelancer will be working alone and might be handling more than one project because of which it would hamper the quality of the design.
So i would go with an agency rather a freelancer.
Thanks..
John..
John – I disagree, while agencies are great for those who have a huge budget, freelancers are some of the hardest working, overdeliverers I know. The one on one personal service can’t be matched with an agency. AND, their entire business is 100% dependent on referrals, so your success is their success. It’s the same principle as the old Avis commercials touting that because they are number 2, they work harder to earn your business and deliver more value.
After reading the article, I just feel that I need more info. Could you suggest some more resources ?
NIce article. Really nice! But i think that you could give some more info on a couple of points. However, keep on developing your good resource
